BSA developed an Economic Development Strategy for Almost Nashville, Kentucky, a three county partnership, as part of the TVA Valley Targeted and Prepared (TaP) Community Program discussed below. The strategy included the identification of four key business sectors that would be good targets for the Almost Nashville, Kentucky region and related recommendations to target such sectors. One of the key recommendations of the strategy was for the Almost Nashville, Kentucky partnership to become a more formalized regional entity that combines the positive attributes of the three counties under one umbrella in order to allow all three to compete more effectively for economic development projects in the future. Other recommendation topics included: agriculture research and development; business recruitment/targeted industries; consolidation of other efforts; entrepreneurship; existing business and retention; marketing and communications; retirement services; taxation and incentives; and workforce.
BSA also prepared an implementation/action plan to guide future efforts and continues to conduct quarterly checkpoint meetings with the Almost Nashville, Kentucky region related to implementation of the strategy.
