Under his leadership, MOEDC won a 2006 Economic Development Leadership Award for its work with the University of Central Florida to enhance its programs to provide better support to Orlando’s simulation, theme park, entertainment production and interactive entertainment industries. The result is the Florida Interactive Entertainment Academy which is in downtown Orlando.

Sloan began his economic development career as Director of Foreign Direct Investment for the State of Arkansas. Prior to that, he practiced law in Arkansas and worked for one of Japan’s largest trading conglomerates in San Francisco.

He currently serves as the chair for CoreNet Global’s Community Reinvestment Challenge and is an active member of his historic neighborhood association. He lives in downtown Orlando with his wife, Rebecca, and his two daughters, Shelby and Allie.
