Charlie Sloan brings over 20 years of diversified economic development experience to Boyette Strategic Advisors.  Since 1987 Charlie has worked in virtually all aspects of state, regional and local economic development.  Prior to entering the economic development profession, Charlie practiced law in Arkansas and worked for one of Japan’s largest trading conglomerates in San Francisco.

Charlie began his economic development career as Director of Foreign Direct Investment for the State of Arkansas during the height of Japan’s investment in the United States.  Prior to joining Boyette Strategic Advisors in May of 2007, Charlie managed all components of the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission (Metro Orlando EDC) with a service territory of two million and an operating budget of $6.4 million.  In this capacity, Charlie facilitated all recruitment, retention and creation efforts.

During his tenure as EVP of the Metro Orlando EDC, Charlie managed strategic planning and tactical implementation for corporate, international, technology and creative industry development.  These efforts transformed the organization from a traditional to a knowledge-based focus, resulting in the creation of 33,093 jobs, $2,638,227,898 capital investment and 16,041,167 square-feet of impacted real estate.  CoreNet Global’s 2006 “Deal of the Year” was one project contributing to these metrics.
Charlie combined business and community service by Chairing CoreNet Global’s local Community Reinvestment (CRC) project during the Spring 2006 Summit and also served as the Task Force Chair for CoreNet’s overall CRC program.  Charlie is active in his historic neighborhood association, serving as past President, and recharges his batteries by working whatever project demands his attention in his downtown Orlando yard.

Charlie’s wife Rebecca has stuck with Charlie for 25 years and they have two wonderful daughters, Shelby and Allie. Traveling with the family and capturing memories through photography is Charlie’s ideal way to spend a day, weekend, week or multi-week break.  On car trips, even Jackson, the dog, is included.  Charlie works and resides in Orlando.
